|Abstract: ||This preliminary study was performed in order to induce callus on different concentrations of plant growth regulators supplied to a basal medium of Murashige and Skoog by using young leaf, stem, root and peel explant of Citrus grandis. According to the results obtained, they showed that the basal medium of Murashige and Skoog (MS) (1962), containing 3.0g/L (w/v) of gelrite, 30g/L (w/v) sucrose, pH 5.7 supplemented with different concentrations of plant growth regulators such as Kinetin (KN), 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4-D) and naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) were capable initiated callus derived from young leaf, stem, root and peel explants of Citrus grandis. Calluses were more succesfully induced and proliferated from young leaf and peel explants on the basal medium of Murashige and Skoog supplemented with KN (3 mg/L) and 2,4-D (3 mg/L). A combination of KN (1 mg/L) and NAA (2 mg/L) are the best plant growth regulators for induction of callus from stem explant of Citrus grandis. Meanwhile, a combination of KN (l mg/L) and 2,4 D (3 mg/L) is the best plant growth regulators for induction of callus from young root explant of Citrus grandis. Most of calluses were friable, compact texture and yellowish-white in colour for all young explants because they were actually meristematic tissues which were more suitable for the plant tissue culture systems.|
