Abstract: There are several ways to store energy using mechanical, chemical, thermal and electromagnetic storages. This chapter reports a few energy storage techniques and the details of recently developed energy storage technologies viz., Compressed Air Energy Storage, Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) technology and Flywheel Energy Storage Technology. These developments can be utilized to improve load factors, reduce pollution in populated urban areas and to make better use of available plants and fuels.
